Amalgamated Fasteners and Fittings (AFF) was established in January 1992. During this early period, AFF had a brass screw manufacturing plant as well as a piping plant and a plating plant. Several years later AFF bought plastic injection molding machines in order to supply plastic products used in the manufacture of furniture. AFF was acquired by Dawn, a JSE listed company, in 2004. AFF acquired the Ferrari agency in South Africa in 1992 and has successfully supplied the industry with these top quality hinges, drawer runners and cupboard components for 17 years. AFF is a leading supplier of components to the case goods manufacturing industry and a distributor of cabinet and kitchen fittings to the Furniture Industries. During the course of 2008, Roco was acquired by Dawn and amalgamated with AFF to form Dawn Kitchen Fittings (Pty) Ltd. Roco and AFF, however, each retain their own brandings and identities. Roco will continue to market the premium brands and AFF will focus on the mainstream brands, specializing in the growing markets for screws, hinges and other commodity type products. AFF will encourage large volume sales in the bulk furniture manufacturing industry whilst Roco will continue servicing its predominant market being manufacturers of kitchens and the more specialized market.
